Understanding Your Implant Denture Options

Implant Supported Bridges

Consists of four to eight implants and a fixed dental bridge. What makes this implant denture unique is it has a future if you ever lost an implant. Meaning, the bridge is able to survive without all implants being successful. It is made of porcelain, making it look nice and hold up better.

Implant Supported Dentures

Consists of a fixed denture which attaches to four dental implants. Unlike the Implant Supported Bridges, if one implant fails and there are only four, then the whole prosthesis most likely will not function properly. They are also made of acrylic which is less aesthetic, much less durable, impossible to really clean, and can result in unpleasant odors.

Implant Retained Overdenture

Consists of a removable appliance with two or more implants. It is more like a traditional denture, unlike the other two, and provides more support but will result in sore spots in the mouth. The denture will occasionally need to be relined because it relies on your existing tissue and bone that change over time for support.
