Conscious Sedation is Dentistry Done Different

Are you or is someone you love afraid of going to the dentist? With sedation dentistry, your visit is as easy as falling asleep. Using our safe IV, oral or inhalation medication, you can sleep right through your treatment and not even remember the visit.

Sedation Dentistry, sometimes called sleep dentistry, allows people who suffer from extreme anxiety to be able to receive the dental care they need who would otherwise not receive it. The number one reason people don't go to the dentist is fear or extreme anxiety. Sedation Dentistry is a great option for patient ages 15 and older. We perform a careful screening during the consultation phase, for any medical conditions that may prevent you from being sedated.

Sedation Dentistry Procedure Overview

Will I be unconscious?

No, you will be very relaxed, but you will be able to respond. Even though you are not technically asleep, our patients describe the experience as being similar. You will have little or no memory of the appointment. You will not even remember any sounds or smells.

Does my companion have to stay at the office?

Your companion must drive you to our office for your appointment and return you home afterwards. During the actual procedure, your companion is free to stay in our comfortable office, or leave and come back to pick you up at the end of the procedure. Your companion must agree to stay with you for the next 12 hours. If the patient is under the age of 18 their parent or guardian must be in the office for the entire procedure.

Will I feel anything?

No, the procedure is painless. You will feel no discomfort.

How long will I be sedated?

You will be sedated for 2 to 8 hours.

At Desert Ridge Dental, our Sedation procedures (IV, N2O, and Oral) are quick, easy and effective. There are no side effects and you will not be fully unconscious, these procedures cause a sleep like state of relaxation that allows you to hear and respond to the dentist's directions. The best part is, you won’t remember a thing! You will need a friend or family member to drop you off and be here for you when the procedure is finished. If you are having an oral sedative, you will need to take it about an hour before your appointment, so your friend or family member will need to drive you to and from your appointment.>br> Are you ready for your stress-free dental procedure?
